— Shark Man, on the Evil Genius,

The Evil Genius, also referred to by fans as the Wheelchair Boss, was a boss introduced in Hungry Shark: Part 3 as the second boss in the Hungry Shark Franchise, after the Crab Boss.

He was located in the Secret Lair, and rolls around in a wheelchair, sitting on a platform, while laughing, and attacking the shark with a harpoon gun.

Appearance[]

The Evil Genius wears some shades and a brown jacket. He carries a harpoon gun and sits down in a wheelchair. It is unknown why he is in a wheelchair, possibly because he is disabled, to increase his mobility, or a combination of both.

Battle[]

Before fighting him, the player must find the Evil Genius' Secret Lair, which is inside the volcano. The volcano is protected by a large amount of volcanic jets, making it harder to reach the Secret Lair.

Once it is reached, the boss battle starts with an agent tied up, gagged and hung upside down, as seen in the picture to the left, with some scientists around him. After a few seconds, the water will be filled with enemy sharks (presumably pets of the Evil Genius). Eating all the enemy sharks unlocks the achievement "No Lasers". If the player does not eat the prisoner for a while, he will be lowered in the water, and the enemy sharks will continuously bite him.

If the shark jumps up and eats the agent, the boss will come down in an elevator, and he'll move left and right on it. The elevator will go up, too high for the shark to reach, and he will shoot three harpoons, laughing crazily and maniacally, then the elevator will go down. He will drive around a few times, without shooting. He's vulnerable at that point. If bitten, he grunts and bleeds while rising back up. After being bitten thrice, he dies as his wheelchair sinks to the seafloor.

The continously respawning scientists at the sides of the Secret Lair will give back a good amount of health, should the shark get damaged.

Upon the death of the boss, the gate to the Sea of Despair will be unlocked, along with the achievement "Dr. Go" (a reference to the first James Bond film, "Dr. No").

Trivia[]

Wheelchair

A sunken wheelchair in the main menu screen, hinting towards the Evil Genius.

  • His behavior is similar to the Harpoon Boat from Hungry Shark Evolution. Harpoon Boats also appeared in Hungry Shark: Part 3, but were smaller, had 2 people, and were immobile.
  • The Evil Genius becomes invincible when his elevator moves up. This is seen when even if the player uses the Mega Shark upgrade and can reach him while his elevator is up, he takes no damage.
  • Although his henchmen appear to be armed with guns, they never seem to use them.
  • He is heavily inspired by famous spy movie franchises, mainly James Bond:
    • His Secret Lair is located inside a volcano, a reference to the volcanic lair of James Bond villain Ernst Blofeld.
    • His lair features a pool harbouring a multitude of aggressive pet sharks (to which he feeds or attempts to feed his adversaries), similar to Emilio Largo from the James Bond film Thunderball.
    • The specific image of a tied-up agent being lowered into a pool of sharks within an underground cavern hails from the climax of the Bond film Live and Let Die.
    • His wheelchair is inspired by the Wheelchair Missile Launcher from the Bond movie GoldenEye.
    • When eaten, the prisoner will sometimes give the accolade "I Expect You to Die", a quote delivered by the titular antagonist of the Bond film Goldfinger.
    • The accolade "You Only Live Once", obtained by killing the prisoner, is, while also a reference to the said phrase, is a pun on the Bond movie title You Only Live Twice.
    • The achievement completed by killing the Evil Genius, Dr. Go, is a pun on the Bond villain Dr. No.
    • The accolade that occasionally appears upon killing the Evil Genius, "How About No?", is a a quote from the movie Austin Powers in Goldmember. Coincidentally, the Hermit from Hungry Shark Evolution's iOS trailer says this as well when Shark Man threatens to eat him.
    • The achievement "No Lasers", obtained by killing all of the Evil Genius' sharks, is a reference to the sharks with laser beams from Austin Powers, as the Evil Genius' sharks do not have any lasers on their heads.
  • According to Hungry Shark: Part 3's trailer, he killed the Shark Man's father.
  • He is the first human boss in the franchise, the second ones being Peter the Bubblemaker and Captain Hooknado.
  • A damaged wheelchair appears in the main menu, hinting towards him.
  • He is the second boss in the franchise, after the Giant Crab in Hungry Shark: Part 2.
