The Lion Jellyfish is a species of jellyfish found exclusively in the South China Sea map. It can only be consumed by Smiles, during a Mega Gold Rush, by collecting all the HUNGRY letters while playing as any shark, or by equipping the Jelly Eater power-up.
It can also be destroyed by certain Shark abilities, such as Robo Shark's mine launcher, Dark Magic Shark's laser beam, Ancient Megalodon's thunderous shockwave ability, Mecha Sharkjira's atomic beam and ultimate ability, Shin Sharkjira's Infernal Breath, and Cosmic Alan's Blackhole Sun. Players can protect themselves from the Lion Jellyfish's damage by using the pet Axel, and health lost to this jellyfish can be restored by Florence Sharkingale.

The Lion Jellyfish is a species of large jellyfish that can be identified by its distinct pink color and long, hair-like tentacles that protrude from its body. But the in-game version of the Lion Jellyfish is purple, which differs from the real-life Lion's Mane Jellyfish that is typically orange in color with light purple tentacles.

One Lion Jellyfish can spawn in groups of Pink Jellyfish in the South China Sea. A pair can spawn together.

- In real life, it is also known as a "Lion's Mane Jellyfish."
- The Lion Jellyfish is one of two jellyfish in Hungry Shark World that does not appear in Hungry Shark Evolution, the other being the Red Jellyfish.
- The Lion Jellyfish is by far the most lethal, capable of killing strongest Tier !! sharks with just one sting. It can still be dangerous to Apex sharks.
- It is the only jellyfish that cannot be eaten by the two pets, Kraken and Colin the Colossus.
- Smiles is the only character who can eat this prey under normal conditions.
- Mecha Sharkjira is possibly the only shark that can survive most of its stings, up to 4-5 times.
- If a player pushes a Lion Jellyfish (by intentionally colliding with it), it will despawn when it goes off-screen.
