Description[]

In every game, Mines float in place, doing nothing until they are bumped into. The only exception to this is in Hungry Shark World, where some mines can be found moving back and forth in certain locations.

Upon contact with the shark, they explode, dealing a large amount of damage depending on their variety. Mines eaten by sharks that can consume them also recover a small amount of Health, and release bubble particles. Mines in Hungry Shark Evolution never give Coins, even during a Gold Rush. In Hungry Shark World, Normal Mines can give coins in a Gold Rush when eaten by !! and above tier sharks, while every other Mine variety can yield coins in a Mega Gold Rush.

In Hungry Shark Night, Mines are replaced with Explosive Barrels, which look different but serve the same purpose.

Appearance in Hungry Shark Trilogy[]

Mines are a virtually omnipresent threat in the entire Trilogy. Found in multiple areas around the sea, they deal high damage and knockback. Large clusters of them can be found in Iceland in Hungry Shark: Part 2.

In the aformentioned game, exclusive Mega Mines can also be found, only appearing in the Caves of Doom. A bright devilish red in color, they will instantly destroy the shark upon contact, regardless of level. If the Giant Crab is defeated, the mines detonate safely and grant access to Fatman's Cove.

Appearance in Hungry Shark Evolution[]

In Evolution, there are four types of mines: the standard Mine, and three variants being the Mega Mine, the Ultra Mine, (it being the strongest) and the Ice Mine, that inflicts damage and freezes the shark for a short period of time. The Ice Mine is exclusive to the Titanic Zone.

Lava Baby can completely protect you from normal, Mega, and Ultra Mines, while Santa Baby can protect you from Ice Mines. Robo Baby can eat normal Mines and launch them at enemies.

Mines do moderate to heavy damage to small sharks, and low damage to large sharks. They can be eaten by the Megalodon or stronger. The Robo Shark can also eat them and use them as ammunition; up to 33 can be fired.

The Mega Mine is more dangerous than the standard Mine, and can only be eaten by the Megalodon or stronger. Spawning in more scattered areas of the map, it appears much less frequently compared to its smaller varieties, but becomes more common and appears in more locations as time passes. They can also be eaten by the Robo Shark, but unlike regular Mines, they cannot be used as missiles. Prior to the Shark Invaders update, it used to be capable of instantly killing a fully grown Reef Shark, but it no longer does this. The Reef Shark survives with a sliver of health left.

A high level Natasha can spear a single Mega Mine on her tusk.

Ultra Mines, added to the game on the Shark Week 2014 update, can only be eaten by the Big Daddy or stronger. Despite this, they can be destroyed by the Robo Shark's mine blast, among a few other Special Shark abilities.

This hulking colossus of a mine can kill most weaker sharks in one hit (Tiger Shark or lower), deals more than a half of Great White and Megalodon's health, and possibly can start starvation. It deals the most damage out of any hazard in Hungry Shark Evolution, aside from the Enemy Big Daddy and above. When approached, the camera zooms out, possibly to help larger sharks avoid it.

While some Ultra Mines spawn in certain places at default, most of them seem to spawn randomly across the map when you earn a lot of points.

Initially, Ultra Mines were referred to in the Museum and on Big Daddy's mission "Mine Muncher Pro", as Death Mines. The Museum eventually updated, renaming them to Ultra Mines. This seems to be a similar situation with Enemy Sharks below Megalodon being referred to as Evil Sharks. Both Ultra Mine and Death Mine names are acceptable.

Unlike other mines, when you eat a Death/Ultra Mine it shatters into pieces as if it exploded.

The Ice Mine is a large frozen mine covered in frosty spikes. It inflicts damage on contact and freezes the shark, making it slower for a few seconds. Its name is official due to it being shown in the Hungry Shark Evolution Christmas Land official video made by FGOL. The Ice Mine appears only in the removed Christmas Wonderland and the Titanic Zone. It can be eaten by Megalodon, Big Daddy, Mr Snappy, and Robo Shark. It does not affect the Ice Shark or any shark with the Santa Baby equipped.

Appearance in Hungry Shark World[]

Mines return as a major hazard yet again in Hungry Shark World, appearing in every single map (except Proximity Mines, which can only be found in the South China Sea). The three main varieties from Hungry Shark Evolution return once again, with some design and balancing changes, alongside the brand new Proximity Mine. In some areas, Mines can be seen drifting up and down, or left and right, making treading areas with them unscathed a greater challenge.

They can collide with Mini Subs and Deep Sea Subs, dealing damage to or potentially destroying them.

While far more of an ubiquitous threat than before, even to the largest of sharks, entering a Gold Rush allows the shark to blow up mines with no damaging consequences, collecting the Hungry Letters allows all sharks to eat anything, including Mines, and Mega Gold Rush does the same thing as the latter, with an additional benefit of earning extra gold. Trevor can clear areas of Mines, Smiles can consume them, and the abilities of higher-tier !! and Apex sharks can destroy all Mines harmlessly.

The Forcefield protects from all Mine explosions, but care must be taken; upon depleting it, Mines will be able to damage the shark again for the rest of the run, and Ultra Mines can chip away at its HP very quickly.

Standard Mines are the least dangerous and most common of all four varieties. Medium sized and rusty in appearance, they deal fairly large chunks of damage that can potentially end the lives of smaller sharks. It is recommended to avoid them with weak sharks, only tank them if it is absolutely necessary for larger ones, and ignore them altogether with !! or Apex tier sharks, which can eat them with no explosive repercussions.

A large cluster of regular Mines can be found near the Aircraft Carrier (vital to the Mako Shark's final mission), and another huge cluster appears in late-game, not so far from the Galleon Wreckage.

Mega Mines are another slightly less common variety of Mines in Hungry Shark World. They appear in virtually every single main map. Large and a bright yellow in color with black spikes, they deal much higher amounts of damage compared to their weaker variants. These Mines can instantly obliterate lower tiers, take out most of the health bar of middling sharks, and are in fact still quite a threat to the !! and Apex tier sharks.

Unlike Hungry Shark Evolution, no shark is capable of eating these plus-sized Mines without Mega Gold Rush or after collecting the Hungry Letters. Any shark that has an ability capable of destroying prey can demolish them however. Trevor can blow them up, and Smiles can eat them.

Ultra Mines are the most powerful and lethal type of Mine. Like Mega Mines, they are found in all maps, albeit only appearing in certain spots. After a while however, they become more plentiful in the oceans.

These doom-dispensing cannisters are a completely different shape from all other Mines in the series. They have an elongated middle with red and orange stripes, scarlet spikes distributed on its top and bottom, and a black color on its main body. Overall, they are cylindrical in shape, unlike the other, rounder Mines.

Arguably the greatest threat in the game other than starvation and large enemy sharks, these volatile masses of steel deal heavy damage, virtually atomizing larger sharks, crippling the XXL tiers, and taking out quarters of the !! and Apex tier sharks' health bars. They should be avoided at all costs if nothing can be done to get rid of them safely at the moment. Even Apexes should usually steer well clear of them unless their abilities are charged. They also can drastically reduce the Forcefield's lifetime.

Just like Mega Mines, no shark in the oceans can eat them without Mega Gold Rush, Hungry Letters, the abilities of certain !! and Apex tiers, or the pets Trevor or Smiles.

Proximity Mines are unique mines that appear in Hungry Shark World, exclusive to the South China Sea. Pulsing with a shark-detecting field around them, they blink red and begin to count down upon detecting the player's shark nearby. After a few seconds, they will explode, dealing heavy damage to weaker sharks. They can only be eaten if the shark has Mega Gold Rush or if it has collected all the Hungry Letters. However, they can be eaten by the Robo Shark without Mega Gold Rush or Hungry Letters.

Proximity Mines do not immediately activate when touched, and as such can be pushed around before detonation. This can be useful if you manage to hit a Deep Sea Sub or Single Man Sub with one. They can be pushed onto dry land if nearby.

Trivia[]

  • Mines in Hungry Shark Evolution can only be triggered by player input and certain babies; whereas in Hungry Shark World, Mines can detonate when touched by any submarine. They also destroy any nearby prey, which is vital for some missions.
    • However, Mines will blow up any adjacent Mines in both games. In Evolution, this initially was not the case until an unknown update.
  • In the ill-fated browser game Hungry Shark Arena, Mines appear, but do not deal damage, only stunning sharks on contact and leaving them open to attack.

Hungry Shark Evolution[]

  • When equipped with Pyro Baby, its Dragon Breath can destroy mines, but the explosion radius from any mines (including Mega and Ultra Mines) can sometimes harm your shark (even larger sharks that are capable of eating them normally).

Hungry Shark World[]

  • Undersharker's Astral Drift ability does not do anything to Mines; the ability only works on living beings.
    • There is currently a glitch that causes Mines to be inedible, even in Mega Gold Rush, because of this.
  • There is a bug in Hungry Shark World where Mega Mines or Ultra Mines may occasionally spawn inside each other. Bumping into them detonates both at once, dealing twice as much damage than usual.
