— In-game description
Quantum (or Quantum Shark) is the 9th Apex shark in Hungry Shark World. He was accidentally released on iOS on July 11, 2023, and Android released 14 or 17 July 2023
Quantum is a fast and powerful shark gifted with the powers of defying the laws of physics. Like numerous !! and Apex sharks, he can eat most prey in-game with some exceptions, such as Mega Mines, Ultra Mines, Lion Jellyfish and Proximity Mines. Despite this, he can destroy any prey he is normally unable to consume with his deadly portal abilities.
Portal Tunnels: Quantum can place up to three Portal Tunnels at once. When his ability button is pressed, the portal entry is placed, and a path will be formed wherever Quantum swims. When the button is pressed again, the portal's exit point is placed. A maximum distance of 300 meters lies between the portal entrance and exit. Quantum can go into the ends of the portal tunnel he has formed, in which he shrinks to a size where he can fit inside it, and rapidly glides all the way to the portal's other end, following the portal path he previously formed. Any prey close to the tunnel's path is instantly destroyed by portal-travelling frictions as Quantum travels through it.
Neon Sparks: While travelling through a Portal Tunnel, Quantum will cumulate Neon Sparks. Upon exiting a Portal Tunnel, the Neon Sparks are unleashed, killing everything near Quantum. He also constantly shoots neon sparks in Gold Rush, similar to Alpha Zombie Shark and Meltdown Shark when you use their skills, but his power is much greater and more destructive.
Pros And Cons[]
Pros:[]
Highest speed stat in the game.
Neon sparks works similar Alpha Zombie Shark's purple Explosive Projectiles but much deadlier and effective on killing more preys.
Portal tunnels will not disappear until you spawn more than 3 portals.
Can fit through small places thanks to his size.
Heavily Outclasses all !! sharks and the first 3ApexSharks
Extremely expensive (10,000 pearls) for a shark that's not much more powerful, arguably maybe even slightly less powerful, than sharks such as Cosmic Alan and Abyssal Shark that cost 2000 pearls less than this shark, but, it has a 60% discount, though you need Meltdown Shark unlocked.
A strategy with Quantum in the map Arctic Apocalypse exists in which he can loop around within the map, constantly healing, destroying everything around him, and needing very little input. It requires Florence Sharkingale to be equipped.
To utilize the strategy, make a portal loop around the map that leads into itself. One or more Toxic Barrels must be within the path, and it is recommended to keep the portal tunnel to stay within groups of many preys. Whenever Quantum travels near the barrels, Florence will heal him, and the Neon Sparks collected will constantly kill prey around the area.
The strategy is also possible without Florence and Toxic Barrels. Make sure that the tunnels goes through enough food to keep your vitals high, and always reroll Eat Anything.
Trivia[]
Quantum's purple color scheme and cybernetic appearance are likely inspired by Kang the Conqueror from the Marvel series, while his name and ability are possibly a reference to the movie Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
A message from a developer in the Hungry Shark Discord server, confirming Quantum was intended to surpass Meltdown
A developer confirmed that Quantum is intended to surpass Meltdown Shark, as Quantum is faster, can also eat Red Jellyfish, and requires Meltdown to unlock him.
His backstory is somewhat similar to that of Mecha Sharkjira, as they were both robotic creations by Glutwell Corp that eventually malfunctioned and joined the sharks instead.
