The King of kings returns for world domination!

— In-Game description

If you are looking for his Hungry Shark Evolution version, see Sharkjira.

Shin Sharkjira (abbreviated as SSJ) is a male kaiju shark, and the fifth Apex shark added to Hungry Shark World. Not too long after his demise to Mecha Sharkjira, Sharkjira returns and jumps out of the ocean, ready to wreck revenge on Glutwell. According to "The Bigger Showdown" teaser, Shin Sharkjira can defeat several Mecha Sharkjiras with his ability known as the Infernal Breath.

Shin Sharkjira is the mutated version of Sharkjira and is overall, very powerful since his abilities constantly progress, and can give a near-immeasurable amount of points.

Abilities[]

  • Eat to charge up crystals that fire at enemies.
    Hqdefault111111

    Info and stats

  • Can fly while using boost like Mecha Sharkjira.
  • Get fully powered up to unleash the Infernal Breath.
  • Crystal Levels:
    • Level 1: One Green Crystal that fires bullets
    • Level 2: Two Yellow Crystals that fires homing missiles
    • Level 3: Three Red Crystals that fire lasers

Appearance[]

Shin Sharkjira looks exactly like his normal self, but is darker, has larger fins, bulkier, and also possesses ice-like crystals on his back and fins, that seem to be radioactive. Shin Sharkjira also seems to have a slightly darker bluish radioactive mouth than his regular form. He also has a hole on his chest from his fatal encounter with Mecha Sharkjira.

His Atomic Breath, known as the Infernal Breath, is also wider than his regular one, but his head points downwards, which may weaken him for some players.

Pros & Cons[]

Pros:[]

  • Eat to charge up crystals that fire at enemies.
  • Has an Infernal Breath which destroys anything it touches
  • Has up to 3 crystal abilities which can help when starving

    Shin Godzilla' atomic breath

    * Can get high scores faster than Mecha Sharkjira
  • Can fly like Mecha Sharkjira. He also uses his Infernal Breath while flying in the process
  • Can walk on land like Mecha Sharkjira
  • Infernal Breath automatically activates while In Gold Rush and Mega Gold Rush
  • Crystal lasers kill everything like the Infernal Breath
  • Has a larger variety of abilities than Mecha Sharkjira and abilities recharge incredibly fast after each use, way faster compared to his robotic counterpart (making him arguably the best shark in-game depending on your preference)
  • Like other Apex sharks, Shin Sharkjira boasts above average stats
  • More offensive playstyle than Mecha Sharkjira
  • Interchanging between crystal lasers and the infernal breath instead of spamming both at the same time can pretty much grant you a virtually constant use of laser projectiles (crystal lasers help you get gold rushes plus the infernal breath and the infernal breath can in the meantime charge up the crystal lasers after use)

Cons:[]

  • Hard to get rid of small enemy sharks such as enemy blacktips, since they are agile.
  • His health is considered very standard for an Apex tier and is average compared to the other Apex tier sharks.
  • Has fairly rapid health drain (unlike Mecha Sharkjira, Shin still has health drain during use of his crystal abilities).
  • One of the most expensive sharks, and by far the current most annoyingly difficult to acquire due to having to first fulfill the already arduous requirement of obtaining Mecha Sharkjira with 6000 Pearls and 90 missions to unlock him AND purchase Shin with another 6000 Pearls (So it is technically a whopping 12000 pearls all in all). Moreover like the other Apex Sharks, you are unable to buy pearls unless given a deal by chance which can at most give 2k pearls.
  • Your boost sometimes fails, making you unable to swim fast, or fly, since your flight depends entirely on your boost.
  • You need to eat more in order to unlock the other two levels of crystals.
  • He can't freely use his Infernal Breath when underwater unless it's in either Gold Rush or Mega Gold Rush.
  • He is huge which doesn't enable him to fit in small spaces.
  • Usually outclassed by Mecha Sharkjira on Extinction Mode (since the latter can freely use his atomic breath and negates health drain during use. On top of that, even self-destructing at the end of his ability, if you have collected 38 more schematics).
  • When activating the Infernal Breath underwater, unlike his predecessor and his normal version in HSE, his head is positioned downwards (like on land). This can make Infernal Breath really difficult to use in water.
  • Outclassed by Mecha Sharkjira and Cosmic Alan on health.

Tips[]

  • On Gold Rush, Use the infernal breath to kill as much prey as possible since it's range is limited and can obliterate any prey on screen.
  • The Level 2 crystals > homing missiles are good for hunting down a hoard of prey for example: jelly fishes, since it has an automatic spawning function (it can presumably detect prey.)
  • You can spam Shin Sharkjira's Crystal levels if you want to get permanent lasers (the level 3 crystals) during gameplay.
  • Combine Infernal Breath with Level 3 crystals > 3 lasers to gain even more coins and gem fishes.
  • Always tap to boost since Shin Sharkjira has a colossal amount of a boost, and he is quite fast as well on water.

Trivia[]

  • The shark was accidentally revealed on May 27th, 2021 by Hungry Shark World's official social media accounts, but was taken down shortly after.
    • A "reveal" of the new shark's render was done on the 5th of May. This was obviously a joke and strangely resembles Cosmic Alan a bit more than SSJ.
      A "reveal" of SSJ's render

The "reveal" of the shark's design.

  • Some fans had guessed his name far before the shark's reveal, as Aaron Morley of FGOL revealed some letters of the new shark before its official reveal.
  • Like Mr. Snappy (Mosasaurus) (HSW), Robo Shark (HSW) and Cosmic Alan, he returns from Hungry Shark Evolution, but with some obvious differences.
    • They both also have evolutions in that game, furthering their similarities.
  • Shin Sharkjira is both a reference (also inspired) to/by "Shin Godzilla" from the Japanese Sci-fi kaiju film "Shin Godzilla (2016)" and the "Snow Godzilla" from the Japanese Film/Anime "SHINKALION The Movie" and Shin Sharkjira almost has a similar design to "Godzilla Ultima" from the Japanese Series/Anime "Godzilla Singular Point" but Shin Sharkjira (SSJ) is still Shin Godzilla from the 2016 film, nonetheless (Confirmed by how his LVL 3 Lasers Ability was almost going to be Back Lasers, similar to Shin Godzilla's ability to shoot atomic beams from in between his spines.)
  • He is inspired from the 2016 Shin Godzilla movie. Similar to his silver screen incarnation, it can be implied that Sharkjira’s transformations in HSW both ability-wise and his more monstrous design are due to extreme exposure to radiation and pollution (which fits the theme of the newly introduced 'Arctic Apocalypse' Extinction mode). This can be seen from his gameplay mechanic of evolving crystal abilities which can be seen as a callback to the 2016 film rendition of Godzilla having the ability to rapidly evolve and mutate throughout the course of the film.
  • Unlike Magmajira in (HSE) he is not immune to toxic barrels without the Recycler Cannon.
  • In The Bigger Showdown, it is shown that Shin Sharkjira combined with his coordination, has the ability to jump incredibly high. From the opening scene where he jumps out of the water, to the final scene where he jumps even higher, this helps to make his flight ability more understandable.
  • He is Sharkjira, but again mutated like Magmajira.
  • Shin can be written using different kanji and implies the words “true” or “new”.
  • Sharkjira's name is based on original Japanese name of Godzilla, Gojira (ゴジラ).
  • The first teaser of Shin Sharkjira was first thought to be Cretoxyrhina due to their fins looking really similar.
  • He took the longest to reveal because the reveal date was delayed.
    • He has the most teasers so far.
  • Technically, he is the most expensive shark, you need MSJ who costs 6000 pearls and then you need to buy shin with 6000 pearls, making the price a grand total of 12000 pearls. Even Mighty Matriarch costs less.
  • This shark’s description (“The King of Kings returns for world domination”) is a reference to the film Godzilla: King of the Monsters.
  • As of the Splash Pass 2 update, there is a bug where Shin Sharkjira's crystal bullets cannot kill or destroy anything.
